Is
attending a truck driving school
a requirement to obtain a Louisiana CDL?
While
truck driving is not a formal
requirement, it is highly recommended. Attending a reputable
Louisiana truck driving school will ensure that you receive the
training and instruction you need to successfully pass your CDL tests
the first time. In addition, attending training will help you become
an experienced, safe, and successful professional truck driver.
What
is the cost to attend a
Louisiana truck driving school?
The
cost of your training depends on
which truck driving school you attend; tuition fees vary between
schools. Most schools will cost between $2,000 and $5,000.
Are
there financial assistance
options to help me pay for school?
Most
schools offer several different
financial assistance programs to help students pay for school. We
can help you find the school that best fits your current financial
situation. Some of the programs offered by different trucking
schools include financial aid or tuition payment plans. Also, many
truck driving companies will pay for your training if you are willing
to work for them or some offer tuition reimbursement.
Are
there truck driving jobs
available even after Hurricane Katrina?
Yes!
In the years since Hurricane
Katrina, Louisiana has been in the process of rebuilding and
reconstructing, which means there are more truck driving jobs
available than ever.
What
are all the costs included with
obtaining a Louisiana CDL?
The
CDL application fee costs $15 while
each endorsement costs $5. The skills test portion of the CDL costs
$60 (not including rental of a commercial vehicle) and you are
required to pay parish CDL fees, which is $51 in the Orleans parish
and $41 everywhere else.
How
long does truck driving school
typically last?
Again,
this depends on which Louisiana
truck driving school you attend, but most typically last between 3
and 5 weeks. Proper and adequate training should consist of both
classroom instruction and actual behind-the-wheel training and
instruction.

You

attend truck driving school; however, you will be restricted to
intrastate driving, meaning you are allowed only to drive within the
state of Louisiana. You must be at least 21 years old to drive

What
kind of physical conditions
will disqualify me from truck driving?
You
will be medically ineligible if you
have any disabled body part that hinders your ability to safely
operate a commercial vehicle. Also, diagnosed diabetes and any
